So while Flying Raven Studios is all about exploring the world of miniature modeling, it is also about cutting through the fluff and marketing to help people find the right thing for their project.
The really cool thing is that we have people from all over the hobby joining the Flying Raven Journey. We have war gamers, we have scale modelers, and model train builders for example. So everyone is different with different needs.
That’s why you will never hear me say something is rubbish, as while it may suck for one job, it may be perfect for another.
I will do my best to instead show how you something works and what it does and then let you guys decide if it’s right for what you need.
To help with this, right back at the start, you asked for me to include a resource list in the video description so you could find the model or bit of kit for yourself. So that’s what I did!
But as the channel has grown and there are literally hundreds of bits of kit spread across all those video descriptions, I was often getting messages asking “what were those brushes you were talking about” or “what was that gel you used for the water effect”.
So I have just spent the last week and a half learning how and then building a Website to pull all these resources into one place. The idea is not only so you can see a product or model in a list, but also see a video next to it where I have used it so you can see how it works and if it’s right for you.
Then after that if, you find yourself thinking “hmmm, good shout Jon”, then I have put links below it. These will take you to a supplier that I buy from myself so you can check out the most up-to-date prices and buy it if you want to.
So not only can you browse bits of kit, but you can also see how it works. This should also help save you money as you can see if it will do the job or be shoved into the back of a draw never to see the light of day again.
But as the links are affiliate links it is a win-win situation. Not only do you get the bit of kit you have been looking for, but the store you buy it from may give me a small commission for the recommendation.
What this means, is that I can then buy more shiny kit to test and review for you.
And so the modeling circle of life continues.
